The annual event which is celebrated to mark the first official day of autumn serves another purpose of raising money for charity as well
This year, about 400 adults waded into the chilling North sea in order to help raise money for charity in Briain on September 25th. The participants each paid £12 before participating and the money gets donated to a mental health charity, Factflyers reports.

According to Jax Higginson, the organizer of the event, he came up the idea after attending a similar one in Wales. He said:

We always have a positive response. People do it one year then come back again and again. We’ve grown every year so far – people come back with a friend.
