The 13th edition of AMAA (Africa Movies Academy Awards) scheduled to hold on June 3, 2017 will now be hosted by the Lagos state government.
The announcement was made by the Lagos State Governor Mr Ambode who said the AMAA award will be part of the Lagos at 50 celebrations.
The Africa Movie Academy Awards, popularly known as AMAA and The AMA Awards, are presented annually to recognize excellence of professionals in the African film industry. It was founded by Peace Anyiam-Osigwe and run through the Africa Film Academy.
AMMA is aimed at honouring and promoting excellence in the African movie industry as well as uniting the African continent through arts and culture. The award presentation is attended by numerous media representatives, celebrities, politicians, journalists, actresses and actors from all across the world.
AMAA is widely considered to be Africa’s most important film event and the most prestigious film award in Africa.
