A Nigerian athlete, Yakubu Adesokan, has set a new world record in power lifting at the ongoing All Africa Games.
Yakubu Adesokan, a physically challenged Nigerian weight lifter, has set a new world record in Power lifting. This spectacular achievement took place at the ongoing Africa Games in Congo.
Adesokan, who has won several medals in the past for Nigeria, set a new world record in the Men’s up to 49kg category. He lifted a massive 182.5kg to win a gold medal for Team Nigeria.
Before he left for Congo, Yakubu Adesokan vowed to win the weightlifting competition in a spectacular style.
It is my desire to put forth outrageous performances in this year’s competitions, which will boost my world ranking and also present me as one of the strong athletes to beat at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
The physically challenged athletes in Nigeria have often made the country proud especially in the area of weight lifting. More medals are expected from other lifter as the competition progresses.
