A 52 year old woman from Changwon city in South Korea was attacked by her robot vacuum cleaner while she took a nap on the floor in her home. She woke up to a rude shock when she woke up and discovered that the vacuum cleaner had locked her hair and was trying to suck it and had to call the fire department.
It took paramedics to free her from the machine that mistook her hair for dust.
Just two weeks ago, Microsoft founder, Bill Gates, while having a discussion on his third Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), said he was worried about artificial intelligence and that mankind should also be worried. Many things can go wrong if we depend on machines that can do chores without human supervision.
Daily Mail says robot vacuum cleaners are slowly becoming commonplace. “A US firm iRobot has sold mre than 10 million of its circular Roomba vacuum since it came on arket in 2002 and Panasonic recently released a triangular rival called the Rulo,” they reported.
