Two school girls, 18-year-old Janet Abiodun and 17-year-old Evenly Apalowe have been reported missing by their aunts. They both attended New Era Girls Secondary School in Surulere, Lagos. Some people have alleged that he girls might have gone into hiding because they failed the examinations.
Mrs Olufolake Oyinloye, Janet’s Aunt, said she was waiting for Janet for a long time, thinking that she was been held back in school. Her worries escalated when Janet did not return by night fall. She claimed that she went to inform her neighbours the following day of the incident, only to find out that Evelyn was also missing.
The following day, I went to one of her friends, Evelyn’s home. I was shocked to discover that she had not been seen. I have searched everywhere for her. I have also called her friend’s parent in Osun state to confirm if they were there.
I do not think it is a crime to repeat a class. That is why she ran away. I went into her room to check if she dropped a note, but there was nothing. She did not take anything in the house. I just do not understand her
reason for running away.
However, recent news have it that the missing Evelyn called her father to inform him that she was in Ibadan. Her aunt also revealed that it was not the first time she will be running from home. From the look of things, the missing school girls ran away after failing their exams.
