The trial for the twenty three (23) military officers who are being charged for mutiny commenced on Monday, 9th March at the officers’ mess 9 Brigade Ikeja Cantonment.
The officers involved include Brig. Gen. Akomolafe, 14 Colonels; A. Laguda, V. Ebhaleme, V.O. Ita, I.B. Maina, I.A .Aboi, I.M. Kabir, M.H. Abubakar, A.A. Egbejule, N.N. Orok, C.A. Magaji, A.O. Agwu, A.J.S. Gulani, O.O. Obolo and A.M. Adetuyi.
Others are Maj. M.M. Idris, Capt. M. Adamu, O.A. Adenaike, M. Gidado, M.M.Clark and S. Raymond and one Second Lieutenant – S.O. Olowa.
The officers who pleaded not quilty were charged for cowardly behaviour, failure to perform military duty, and other offences relating to service property.
The offence which is punishable by death is connected with the Boko Haram invasion of the 21 Artillery Brigade, Bama.
