The Nigerian Football Federation has appointed Tijani Babangida as Coach Sunday Oliseh’s assistant.
Tijani Babangida was born 25 September 1973 in Kaduna. He is a retired Nigerian footballer, who played as a winger. Known for his pace, his playing style was sometimes compared to that of Marc Overmars.
Tijani Babangida will join his teammate Sunday Oliseh at Ajax Amsterdam in Holland and the national team, to managed the Super Eagles.
Tijani will be joining the Super Eagles at their training camp in Abuja this week.
Tijani Babangida started his international football career in 1994. He played over 30 games for the Super Eagles.He was in the 1996 Olympic team that won gold for Nigeria. He also participated in two African Cup of Nations.
He lost his place in the squad right before the 2002 World Cup. After a two-year lay-off from international football, Babangida was recalled to the Nigeria team for the 2004 African Cup of Nations preparations in Tunisia.
As regards his coaching experience, Tijani Babangida has coached FC Taraba, a local Nigerian club.
Nigerians and all fans of the super eagles hope that Sunday Oliseh and Tijani Babangida will take the team to an enviable height.
Tijani Babangida will be helping to prepare the super eagles to prepare for September’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Tanzania.
