Super Eagles defeated Niger 2-0, the first win for Coach Sunday Oliseh.
The Super Eagles won a friendly match played today by beating Niger 2 – 0. This match is coming three days after the team played a goalless draw with Tanzania for the Africa’s Nations Cup qualifier.
Also, this friendly match was the first win for the new Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh. The Super Eagles of Nigeria got their first goal through captain of the day Ahmed Musa who scored from the penalty sport. The team got a penalty after striker Anthony Ujah was hauled down in the 18-yard-box.
However, the Nigerien side came up with an almost impenetrable defence, until Moses Simon shot in a second goal. A third goal came from Emmanuel Emenike but was ruled as offside by the Ghanaian referee.
Coach Sunday Oliseh has expressed his delight in the performance of the team and claimed it was an improvement over the last match with Tanzania.
No doubt I’m happy because there were improvements from the game against Tanzania and the motive of this game was to correct what was noticed.
Oliseh also pointed out some areas that needed to be improved upon.
In terms of defending we did well and when we pressed we did it well but I hope to see the team keep the ball more and dictate the pace of the game.
Coach Sunday Oliseh ended by saying that no one was indispensable in the team and that every hand should be on deck to improve the Super Eagles.
