The Sultan of Sokoto has enjoined President Buhari to jail those found guilt of looting and confiscate their properties.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has encouraged President Muhammadu Buhari to send looters to jail.
The Sultan asked Buhari to jail those found guilty of looting while their properties should be confiscated.
According to VANGUARD, the Sultan said this to President Buhari during the National Security Summit organized by the Nigerian police. The Sultan of Sokoto said he is in full support of President Buhari’s anti-corruption war. He said that corruption needs to be eradicated in order to establish a decent society.
All found culpable of corruption should not only forfeit their assets but should go to jail. We are 100 per cent in support of your fight against corruption in this country. It is our belief that all those found guilty should not only have their entire assets seized and forfeited to government but also they should face jail sentences. In order to establish a decent state, corruption must be fought to a standstill.
Some days ago, the National Peace Committee advised President Muhammadu Buhari to concentrate more on governance than on running after looters. The Sultan of Sokoto on the other hand is totally in support of the anti-corruption battle. The monarch also tasked the police and other security agencies to step up the fight against corruption.
He further stated that traditional rulers too must be involved in security by maintaining security in their domains. The Sultan expressed hope for a better nation that will be well-secured, more productive and united.
