Many concerned people have lamented the poor outing of Team Nigeria in the ongoing IAAF competitions.
Several people have lamented the poor performance of Team Nigeria in the ongoing International Athletics Association federation IAAF competitions in Beijing.
Former Nigeria sprinter, Olusoji Fasuba, has also expressed his disappointment with the current poor outing of Team Nigeria in the ongoing competition.
Fasuba, who competed for the country in the 60m, 100m and 200m, lamented the decline of Team Nigeria in international sporting competitions.
When a country like Kenya can produce world champions in the 400m hurdles, then hope is not lost for Africa.
But when a country like Nigeria thinks African Championship is the ultimate because they refuse to give or have faith in their athletes at the world stage, then we are lost as a country.
How can Nigeria move forward when they limit the abilities of the male sprinters by keeping them because they feel that they wouldn’t get a medal?
Fasuba added that home based athletes should be provided with adequate training facilities to enable them perform well in international competitions. He was advised that talents should be sort from the grassroots.
Recently Blessing Okagbare, head of the Team Nigeria continents in Beijing came last in the 100 meters women’s finals. A number of other Nigerian athletes have also crashed out of the competition.
