Petr Cech, the new Arsenal goal keeper fumbles in his debut match in Arsenal.
Cech’s errors helped West Ham to beat his Arsenal side 2-0.
This was quite disappointing for Arsenal fans because they expected much from the multi -award winning and former Chelsea goal keeper.
Čech had received the individual award of Best Goalkeeper in the 2004–05, 2006–07 and 2007–08 seasons of the UEFA Champions League.
Petr Čech also won the Golden Glove three times; in the 2004–05, 2009–10 and 2013–14 as the Premier League goalkeeper with the most clean sheets. Čech kept a club record 220 clean sheets for Chelsea in all competitions.
Cech seemed anxious in the match against West Ham and made costly mistakes that made him conceive the two goals.
In reaction to the defeat, Arsene Wenger said;
“The players were maybe too nervous and put too much pressure on themselves. Today we have been hurt mentally and it is a good opportunity to respond.”
Although Wenger did not particularly mention Petr Cech performance, he is still hopeful that his side will do well this season.
