Oluchi Anekwe, a student of the University of Lagos UNILAG, was electrocuted in the university campus.
Students to the University of Lagos UNILAG have come out to protest the electrocution of one of their schoolmate. The student identified as Oluchi Anekwe, a 300-level student of Accounting, was reportedly electrocuted yesterday on her way to her hostel in the University campus.
The students of UNILAG have reportedly barricaded the main gate of the university to express their grievances. They have asked the Vice Chancellor, Professor Rahman Bello, to intervene in the matter, as it occurred within the school’s premises.
According to Sahara news, the students particularly were angered by a statement allegedly made by one lecturer identified as Mr. Ajape, who is the course adviser to the deceased Oluchi Anekwe. Ajape was said to have advised the rest students this morning to forget the dead and move on. One student from the department of accounting quoted Ajape saying; “She’s dead and gone”. The protesters said they considered the statement “reckless, insensitive and a total disregard for life”.
Oluchi Anekwe, a 300-level student of Accounting in UNILAG, who hails from Aku in Enugu state, was reportedly electrocuted when a high tension wire fell on her in front of the Sodeinde hall of residence in the campus.
