Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has been discharged by the Magistrate Court in Wuse 2, Abuja.
Magistrate Shuaibu Usman of the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse 2 Abuja, discharged Nnami Kanu, the Director of Radio Biafra and Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on all counts of criminal conspiracy and ownership of an unlawful society brought against him by the federal government.
Magistrate Shuaibu who was supposed to deliver judgment on the application of the DSS on December 1 but eventually did it toay, ruled that:
The accused person is hereby discharged and the case struck out.
This was made known today, Wednesday, December 16, 2015, after the Department of State Services (DSS), had elected to withdraw the case at the lower court for a higher court.
Despite an order of the magistrate court granting him bail in October, Nnamdi Kanu, was still held for 90 days by the DSS.
his lawyer, Vincent Obetta, filed a counter application, seeking bail for the accused person even after the lower court granted him bail but the DSS having gotten an order of the federal high court, Abuja, still kept him in detention.
Justice of the Federal High Court, Abuja, Adeniyi Ademola, is expected to rule on the bail application of Nnandi Kanu on Thursday
