Nigeria’s U-23 Team also known as the Dream Team VI narrowly escaped a plane crash in Accra, Ghana today (November 11, 2015).
News has it that the Arik aircraft conveying the Nigerian U-23 national team lost a tyre on landing at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra.
As if that was not bad enough, another airplane deployed to fly the team to the Gambia from Ghana developed an engine problem on take-off and the pilot had to make a quick return. A senior official of the U-23 team told Goal after the incident that;
Thank God for his goodness and his mercies we escaped plane crash on our way to Gambia, the pilot had to make an emergency landing in Accra we are still in Accra. We are still stranded here and we are yet to get any news from Arik officials.
Arik Airline reportedly sent another plane to convey the team to the Gambia. In a related development, Coach Samson Siasia has invited some players of the U-17 team who recently won the World Cup in Chile, to assist in the Dream Team. News also has it that Coach Siasia has sent about two players out of the camp for misconduct and disobedience.
