The Super Eagles of Nigeria traveled to face the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in the second match of the 2017 Orange Africa Cup Of Nations qualifiers looking for their first official win under new coach Sunday Oliseh.
After failing to secure a spot in the 2015 Orange AFCON finals, Nigeria started their 2017 Orange AFCON qualification campaign on the right foot after a 2-0 win over Chad in their opening match at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
Their opponents, Tanzania, was a in tough situation after they lost their first game against Egypt and will be looking to use the advantage of playing at home to get a positive result. The match ended goalless after the full ninety minutes encounter.
In reaction to the outcome of the match, Sunday Oliseh, the coach of the Super Eagles claimed the team was not organised. Coach Sunday Oliseh was playing his first competitive game as coach of the Super eagles. He disclosed the reporters that;
We were disorganized in the first half but fared better in the second. In the second half we organized ourselves better but lacked that quality supply from midfield to attack. We will get better.
We have to continue to build. We barely had two good days of training before this match so I am happy with the one point.
He also commended Carl Ikeme, the goalkeeper, for his impressive performance. Vincent Eyeama, the number one goalkeeper of the team, was absent in the match because he reportedly lost his mother.
