Former coordinating minister of the economy, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, has been offered two international appointments.
Former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, has been given two job offers from international firms. On Monday, September 21, Lazard Limited, an international firm, announced that Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has joined the firm as a Senior Advisor with a focus on sovereign advisory. Kenneth M. Jacobs, the chairman and chief executive officer of Lazard Limited, made the announcement.
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala has built a remarkable international reputation over more than three decades in leadership positions in government and at the World Bank.
According to Business Wire, Lazard Ltd is one of the world’s prominent financial advisory and asset management firms. The company operates from 43 cities across 27 countries in Europe, Asia, Australia, North, Central and South America.
Lazard Ltd provides advice on mergers and acquisitions, strategic matters, restructuring and capital structure, capital raising and corporate finance. The firm works with corporations, partnerships, institutions, governments and individuals.
Vanguard news also claimed that the former Minister of Finance has also been appointed the chair-elect of the board of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, founded by Bill and Melinda Gates.
Speaking to reporters about her recent appointments, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala expressed her excitement saying;
The two appointments I’m going to undertake embody a continuation of what I’ve tried to do in my career.
My work at Gavi will help me continue my work in strengthening institutions and building systems” to improve the health of children through immunisation.
She also took to her Twitter handle to express her readiness to undertake her recent appointments.
