President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn in this morning as Nigeria’s 15th President with his wife by his side. He took his oath of office at the Eagle’s Sqaure in Abuja today moments after Professor Yemi Osinbajo was sworn in.
Muhammadu Buhari who previously ran the affairs of the country as a military leader between 1983 and 1985 contested for the office for four times before he finally worn while flying the flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending the 16 year rule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which is popularly said to have been one of corruption.
Meanwhile, the outgoing president, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan having handed over power to Muhammadu Buhari has arrived the Port Harcourt International Airport from where he will fly an helicopter to his home in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.
Nigeria has made history today in its democracy by witnessing the handing over of power of one political power to another.
Present in Nigeria to experience Muhammadu Buhari‘s inauguration include US Secretary of State, John Kerry; South African President, Jacob Zuma; Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe and other world leaders. Also present at the inauguration today was former president Olusegun Obasanjo.
