Not up to two days after the Princess of Akungba Akoko Land in Ondo State, Princess Oluwatoyin Omosowon was kidnapped with her aides, their abductors have demanded for a ransom of N20milllion.
Vanguard news reported that she was abducted with three of her escorts on Tuesday by six persons along Akure/Akungba Akoko Expressway while returning from an inaugural lecture delivered by the Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun.
Someone close to the royal house has said
That is their asking price, but we have informed them that the amount is on the high side. We are still talking and we hope they will see reason and ask for a reasonable amount. They did not even allow us to speak with the traditional ruler.
Security operatives are carrying out investigations to get a clue as to who might have served as informants to the abductors.
Authorities of Adekunle Ajasin University have shut down the institution following rumours that youths in the community are planning to attack it. The youths are accusing the Vice Chancellor for the plight of their monarch. Princess Oluwatoyin Omosowon is an alumni of the institution and studied History during her days in the school.
Prayers have been held in religious institutions for the safety and release of the monarch.
