A middle aged man who allegedly attempted to hide in the wheel-well of an Arik Airbus to New York died probably in transit and instead of “alighting” in New York as expected, his dead body came back to Nigeria and fell on the tarmac yesterday 14th March. His dead body was found by Airport Authorities staff who fled when they initially saw it before calling the attention of a doctor who confirmed him dead and sent his remains to a mortuary.
An airport staff who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incidence to wazobians.com. He said he saw Lagos State Government Ambulances driving into the tarmac and began to ask questions since it was unusual.
I was in the tarmac working when I saw Lagos State Ambulance drive in. When I saw it, I thought it was a sick person who couldn’t fly they came to pick. Normally, the person should have been taken through departure area and so on. When I saw it, I asked questions and was told about the guy. The guy must have been stupid to do a thing like that because the tires could easily have crushed anybody… hunger fit kill am sef.
There have been other reports of stowaways in the past. A typical example is one that happened 2 years ago when a young man sneaked into the wheel-well of another New York bound flight and his body fell on the tarmac when the flight returned to Lagos.
