A 26 years old midwife, Hannah has given birth to a baby girl in a family where no girl has been born for over 200 years.
The last time a girl was born into the Lawrie family was in 1809 when car was not yet invented and when King George III (the ‘mad’ king you’ve seen depicted in movies) was the King of England. When Mark Lawrie met Hannah and told her that a girl has not been born in his family for over 200 years, she made a resolve to have a girl.
Mark already had two sons before he met her, so it was not surprising when she had a child and it was … a boy. So, she began to ask questions. And then she began to read every book she could find on child sex determination. Then she discovered a formula.
She only allowed Mark to have sex with her in the early part of her monthly cycle because while male producing chromosomes were faster and weaker, the female producing ones were slower and survived longer. So, having sex just before ovulation would logically help to “exhaust” the male chromosomes and leave the female ones to penetrate the eggs produced by the woman.
Hannah admitted to Daily Mail that this was not romantic but she desperately wanted to have a girl.
When she got pregnant again, it was discovered she was with a girl child, ending over two centuries of “female drought” in the Lawrie family. Myla Lawrie, as the child is named is the first girl ever born into her family even before the invention of the motorcar.
