LASTMA adopts booking of traffic offenders.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has adopted the new disciplinary measure of booking traffic offenders, rather than apprehending their vehicles.
Mr Oluseyi Whenu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, gave this directives to LASTMA officials.
Mr Oluseyi claimed that there was need to change the mode of operation of LASTMA. He therefore directed the traffic officials to consider alternative traffic management methods rather than physical apprehension and arrest. He also claimed that the traffic authority is committed to the residents of Lagos.
Since LASTMA officials are a reflection of the state government, they should ensure that their activities add value to the government’s covenant with Lagos residents to make life easier for them
He called on drivers to comply with the directives of the traffic officials to curb road accidents. According to reports, there are strong indications that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos may soon effect a major restructuring of LASTMA.
