After the rains yesterday, 10th June, 2015 and the day before it, many areas in Lagos became flooded and that has prompted many residents of the mega city to call the attention of the authorities.
In some areas, the flood was so much that people had to use canoes on the expressway.
Music video director, Kemi Adetiba had to post a report from her own area and wrote
Floods on the roads of Lagos. If your car is as low as mine, leave it at home.
The flooding menace is mainly as a result of indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the roads of Lagos. It is very sad to see people who are supposedly educated eat something in their cars and throw the pack through the window of moving vehicles.[contextly_sidebar id=”MOKVp2VMWYp4EFY3GUSPlFKDFfWRct0I”]
Speaking on this, one of Nigeria’s foremost comedians, Ali Baba wrote;
We blame government for everything! With the amount of thrash we throw into drainages I am not surprised at the consequences of any downpour that lasts for over 4 hours. And to think there is money in recycling of plastics! Isn’t that money floating by?….#shit happens
Lagosians should in the “Spirit of Lagos” teach others how to dispose of their waste. No indiscriminate dumping of refuse. No urinating everywhere. In the spirit of Lagos!
