Many fans are not too happy with the outcome of the grand finale of MTN Project Fame West Africa Season 8.
The MTN Project Fame has produced a new winner in the 8th edition of the competition. Jeffrey Ufedo Akor, simply known as Jeff, emerged winner of the MTN Project Fame West Africa Season 8, smiling home with star prize of N5million, a brand new, fully loaded SUV and a recording contract worth millions of Naira.
It started with auditions in several cities in West Africa, and translated into eight weeks of fun, tension and scintillating performances for the 16 contestants that made it into the Academy.
For the six finalists that made it to the finals (Ada, Arewa, Anderson, Deinde, Jeff, and Pearl), things will never be the same again as they have indeed gone through a beneficial and life-altering eight weeks in the Academy.
The MTN Project Fame West Africa has produced the likes of Iyanya, Mike, Chidinma and Monica. And with only one of these six to join the league of extraordinary superstars, the question on everyone’s mind was, who will it be?
However, when the winner were finally announced, many fans recoiled in disbelief. And they subsequently vented their sentiments on social media.
Many of them were of the opinion that even though Jeff was quite talented, he didn’t come across as the best contestant. The situation was further tensed when Funmilayo Comfort Arewa, simply known as Arewa and Deinde, who were one of the favourites almost when home empty handed.
Many fans blasted the organizers of the competition for putting commercial interests over talent. They advocated that the competition should be based on merit and not simply on votes. Many aggrieved fans also claimed that Arewa possessed the attitude needed to survive in the competitive music industry than Jeff.
