A new Miss Iraq has emerged in the person of Shayma Qasim.
A new Miss Iraq has emerged, and terrorist group, ISIS, have been reported to have contacted the new queen.
20-year old, Shayma Qasim Abdulrahman, an Economic student was recently crowned the new Miss Iraq and already has been receiving death threats from terrorists group ISIS.
According to reports, ISIS asked the new queen to join their group to which she refused and said she will even be representing the country in the next Miss Universe contest. This did not go down well with the terrorist group as they have on many occasions threatened to kidnap her.
The Competition which was supposed to take place in October but ended up taking place in December,had a lot of setbacks with people refusing their ladies to participate and even saw two contestants leaving the competition after receiving threats from ISIS.
With all the issues and threats surrounding the pageant, Shayma begged her parents to allow her partake in the competition, which she eventually won.
She spoke toNBC news and said:
I am afraid of nothing, because I am confident that what I am doing is not wrong.
The Miss Iraq pageant was first held in Baghdad, 43 years ago.
