At the recently concluded AY Live show in Port Harcourt, Helen Paul made joke out of fellow comedians like Ali Baba, Gordons and I Go Dye.
Her action provoked Gordons who when it was his turn to perform lashed back at Helen, prompting the comedienne’s return on stage in what sounded like not-so-friendly verbal jabs thrown at each other by both comedians.
It took the intervention of AY, the organizer of the show to restore calm and peace by carrying Helen Paul out of the stage and later came back to declare that Gordons will no longer be performing in any of his shows again.
However, in an exclusive chat with Naij, Helen Paul described the whole drama as part of the jokes meant to add spice to the colourful event.
Bros Gordons is not just my colleague; he is my big brother o. Our priority at the event was to provoke laughter from the audience, and that was exactly what we did. Honestly, there is no more to it. All of us still played together backstage before leaving the event venue.
“I also talked about Ali Baba on that stage, and he was still at the convocation ceremony of my theatre academy on Friday. Ali Baba is a father to all of us, so it is impossible for me to insult him, but he understands that what we did was just meant to entertain the audience. This is not the first time that comedians make jokes about themselves on stage. We were just having fun, so people should not attach any string to it.
Helen Paul said said that the comedians are more like family to each other, so they cannot fight over a small issue as that.
