Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has paid a visit to Maiduguri, the state capital of Borno State, one of the states most affected by the Boko Haram insurgence.
In a statement, the president said “I visited Maiduguri to meet with members of the armed forces serving there as well as the civilian population of the city. These great men and women are Nigeria’s heroes. They are fighting to defend our nation from terrorists and other threats and we must do all within our powers to show appreciation for their services to Nigeria in tangible ways. May God bless the men and women of our armed forces, may God bless our efforts to return normalcy to Maiduguri and other towns affected by the insurgency and may God bless Nigeria.”
