Recent developments in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgence has proven that the terrorist group has European members working with them. This became known when eight French members of the dreaded terrorist group were captured. This has however caused a rift between the governments of Cameroun and France because the latter insists on trying their own citizens.
“Mr. Lauren Fabuci, the French Foreign Minister, has ordered Cameroun to release immediately eight Europeans captured by our security men, for being part of Boko Haram terrorists,” a Cameroun minister said. “Mr. Fabuci demanded their immediate handover to France so that they can prosecute the terrorists on French soil, ignoring our sovereignty and independence.”
The Diretor of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade while addressing newsmen over the efforts made to curb the sect, said that the capture of the eight French members of Boko Haram sect is a matter for the Camerounian and French autorities to settle.
Olukolade urged the African Union to interceed in the turn of event before it is blown out of proportion. Watch here for updates on the face-off between the government of Cameroun and their former colonial masters, France.
