A ferry, a twin deck MV Mostofa conveying about 150 passengers in Bangladesh capsized and sank, killing about 11 children amongst 69 people who drowned in the disaster.
Local Police Chief Rakibuz Zaman disclosed that “Divers have recovered 41 bodies. The dead included 11 children and seven women”
He said that about 50 people who swam ashore were rescued by other vessels.
Survivors said “the MV Mostofa was overcrowded with about 70-150 passengers crammed into the upper and lower decks.” They were left scrambling to find loved ones when the tragedy struck.
It is indeed a tragic experience for the people of Bangladesh as this is the second deadly boat accident they are experiencing in a short time.
