Governor Fayose rusticates 31 Ekiti Civil Servants who came late to work.
Over 31 Ekiti civil servants were punished for coming late to work by the governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, in a statement said Fayose’s visit which exposed the late comers, was part of unscheduled visits the governor would be paying to government offices.
Governor Fayose made a surprise visit to the state Secretariat at 8:00am, without his usual convoy and aides. He allegedly ordered the gates of the Secretariat to be locked after him. The unsuspecting civil servants walked into the waiting hands of the governor, who kept watch at the gate.
The over 30 Ekiti Civil Servants who came late were directed that a disciplinary committee be set up to try them with appropriate sanctions.
Governor Fayose express his displeasure at the lackadaisical attitude of civil servants in the state. The governor warned them against act of lateness and truancy. Governor Fayose told news men that;
If a labourer is worth his wages, the employer also is worth his services. I have warned workers in the state repeatedly about coming late to work or taking their jobs with laxity. Despite the paucity of funds, we have been regularly paying workers’ salaries.
If workers are paid regularly, the workers too must justify our efforts and work for the money they earn.
Many of the late civil servants prostrated before the governor begging for mercy.
