Mavin Records Chief Executive and producer, Don Jazzy might be “porting” from being brand ambassadors to MTN to becoming Globacom‘s ambassadors in the next few months, according to reports. Presently, Don Jazzy‘s contract with MTN has just a few months left on it.
According to blogger, Stella Dimokokorkus, the “news of Don Jazzy’s availability came up just as Globacom was preparing offers to add Mavin’s rising musicians Di’Ja, Reekado Banks and Korede Bello to their fold of brand ambassadors. The source added that not only is Glo eager to sign the young ones all at once, they are determined to break the bank by also offering a record -breaking deal to the Mavin Records CEO.”
Don Jazzy has been building a cult-like following through his exceptional branding of the record label. This has intensified more through the gradual introduction of the “Supreme Mavin Dynasty” (SMD). Even though Don Jazzy is obviously not the best singer in town, many Nigerian artistes want him to feature in their songs because of his midas touch. Whoever gets Don Jazzy between MTN and Globacom will certainly be winning big.
This is not the first time people are moving their public support from one brand to its rival. Recall how Saka (real name is Hafeez Oyetoro) who was with Etisalat “ported” to MTN.
No member of the Mavin Records crew, including Don Jazzy has said anything about the speculated move of Don Jazzy and Mavin from MTN to Globacom yet.
