In what seems to be an attempted revenge, terrorist group, Boko Haram tried to attack the Niger town of Diffa yesterday but were prevented by security forces. Meanwhile, a suicide bomber whom eye witnesses revealed was a young boy struck in the town market killing at least one persons and injuring about 10 others.
The fighting, according to eyewitnesses, which started at 6am lasted till around 10am.
Just last Saturday, the governments of Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Nigeria agreed to come up with 8700 strong regional force as against the already agreed 7500 troops.
While Chad has already deployed about 2500 soldiers to Cameroon and Niger, Niger’s parliament will be votng today, on proposal by its government to join Nigeria and the neighboring country in the fight against Boko Haram.
