Cameroonian-Nigeria singer and entrepreneur, Dencia (born Reprudencia N. Sonkey) has debunked myth that green veins are caused by bleaching and bleaching products by re-posting a photograph of American super-diva, Beyonce.
Dencia captioned the photograph like this; “The green vein Myth. #Beyonce has green veins too,a lot of women have green veins, white, black etc. A lot of people say only people who lighten their skin have green veins, everyone has green veins I mean everyone the rings tho!#beyonce #Whitenicious #myth.”
Dencia is the founder and Chief Executive of Whitenicious, a skin care product line created to remove dark spots but rumoured to be a bleaching cream. When the product was first launched early last year, it sold out in less than 24 hours, according to reports. Within a short time, “before and after” pictures of the entrepreneur hit the internet.
Several weeks after, Whitenicious sales moved up to 20,000 units with predictions of increased sales in weeks to come. Dencia was criticized for encouraging skin lightening and self hatred among African women.
Despite the criticism, Dencia claimed her mission is to help women overcome self esteem issues and other obstacles they may be facing on daily basis and she has been very consistent on that claim as most of her activities point in that direction.
