As President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration tackles corruption, those who stole in the past administration are reportedly returning stolen funds.
The fight against corruption seem to be yielding dividends. A security aide of former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has reportedly returned to the government of President Muhammadu Buhari the sum of N1.5 billion he allegedly acquired illegally while in office.
According to New Telegraph reports,
The security agency has recovered N1.5 billion from an aide of former President Goodluck Jonathan. After a series of investigation, the money was traced to his account, which he could not explain the source as a public servant. The aide is not alone as some others have voluntarily returned money to the Federal Government to avoid prosecution.
Meanwhile, the name of the former president’s aide has not been revealed. President Buhari‘s anti-corruption campaign is obviously yielding results as corrupt government officials from the past Goodluck Jonathan‘s government have started coming forward with supposedly stolen funds. Certain commentators have however asked the president to begin the fight against corruption in his own party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
