The Oyo State Police has discovered a number of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) suspected to have been planted by members of the notorious terror sect, Boko Haram in Ibadan during a search at a public function in an unnamed area.
According to Oluseun Awodele, the Commander of Explosives Ordinance Disposal, the explosives contained detonator cords, high dynamite batteries, detonators with ammonium nitrate underlining that if the explosives were well combined and constructed, they would form highly explosive IEDs.
Meanwhile, the police has advised members of the public to be more security conscious and beware of materials left carelessly in public places to prevent bomb attacks.
The Nigerian Army has been succeeding in the fight against Boko Haram in the past few months. Attacks on civilians by the terror group has however increased in the past 3 weeks.
