A member of the Lagos Task Force identified as Silas Akude, wasbathed with acid by some area boys at the Oshodi area of Lagos State.
Silas, who is presently fighting for his life at the Emergency Ward of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, was badly injured by the corrosive substance poured on him.
It was gathered that the victim was a members of the tasks force in charge of maintaining order and cleanliness at Oshodi. He was at his duty post when a comercial bus filled with area boys, abruptly stopped in front of him and bathed him with acid. The vechilce immediately zoomed off to an unknown destination.
A colleague of the victim disclosed to reporters that;
We all moved out as a team and when we got to Oshodi, we moved to different spots to monitor traffic, arrest road traders and enforce the traffic law.
We had divided ourselves into two that day. A group monitored Oshodi Isale, while the other group went to Oshodi Oke.
Around 4pm, a Volkswagen bus on motion suddenly stopped in front of Silas, and somebody in the bus poured the acid on him. The bus drove off immediately.
There are speculations that the victim must have been at loggerheads with the area boys.
