A 70-year old woman, Hajia Aisha Alhassan, has been arrested by the Kano State Police Command for aiding and abetting the sales of illicit drugs to criminals who cause havoc in the society, Sun News reports.
The police who confirmed her arrest on Friday offered that she was arrested with two others. Abba Mustapha, who is a staff of Corporate Security, Gabasawa and Jamilu Abba, a tricycle operator.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Muhammad Musa Katsina, said she provided the warehouse, which served as a store for dangerous drugs as well as a rendezvous for various criminal gangs to consume the illicit drugs.
He estimated the market value of the drugs recovered from the warehouse at N60 million, saying that they included, Indian hemp, cocaine and tramadol, among others.
According to him, the dangerous intoxicants belonged to one Yusuf Ali of Jean Quarters, Sharada , who is a staff of Lead Star Academy, Kano, and a firewood seller in the same quarters.
The police commissioner disclosed that the police are in possession of intelligence to the effect that Jean Quarters is host to several notorious drug dealers, warning that anybody who lives in the neighborhood, where illicit drugs are sold and consumed, but fails to expose same would be arrested and charged to court for abetting an offender.
