Amnesty International has reported satellite images which show widespread destruction in Baga and Doron Baga. The images were captured on the 2nd and 7th of January. The satellite images show that over 3700 buildings and other structures were destroyed.
Nigerian researcher for Amnesty International, Daniel Eyre said “These detailed images show devastation of catastrophic proportions in two towns, one of which was almost wiped off the map in the space of four days.”
“Of all Boko Haram assaults analysed by Amnesty International, this is the largest and most destructive yet. It represents a deliberate attack on civilians whose homes, clinics and schools are now burnt out ruins.”
Even though the Nigerian Military has reported that about 150 people died contrary to the 2000 being claimed widely, there are indications that the death toll is far more.
