The camp of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) has been thrown into complete sadness as two female suicide bombers detonate bombs in the camp killing over 51 persons and injuring several others.
Over 51persons have been reportedly killed by two female suicide bombers Borno State yesterday. The suicide bombers blew themselves up in the Dikwa camp of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) , Maiduguri, while injuring over 20 persons.
The incident was confirmed by rescue workers who ensured that injured persons were taken out of the camp which is situated in the state capital. It was reported that about 50,000 IDPs are resident in this camp.
However, the Federal Government has sent condolences to the IDPs over the loss of lives. A statement issued by the Spokesman of the Vice President, Laolu Akande stated that such act was heartless and regrettable but assured that government forces would be deployed to hunt down the terrorists.
He further stressed that, “There will be no hiding place for terrorists”, and therefore ordered the security in the camp of the IDPs to be beefed up and other measures put in place to halt further suicide attacks bomb blasts or terrorist activities.
