A young footballer in the Ifako Ijaiye area of Lagos has been stabbed to death by suspected cultists.
A young footballer has met his death in the hands of an alleged cultist.
According to reports, the 21-year old man, identified as Samuel Owawu, was attacked by a cult group called Aiye, led by the alleged killer, Adebayo Hammed, in the Ifako Ijaye area of Lagos.
The deceased was said to have refused to give the gang money, which led to him being stabbed to death while jogging on Friday.
Samuel, who was the goal keeper for the Ifako Ijaiye United, was said to have been told to give the gang N5000, that morning before he could be allowed to jog in the area, to which he did, but when he started the jogging, the gang again accosted him for more money but he refused. This led to an argument before Samuel was eventually stabbed.

Punch Metro gathered that he was immediately rushed to an hospital by eyewitnesses and the case was reported at the Pen Cinema Police Division.
One of Samuel’s team mate and room mate recounted the incident:
It was around 7.30am. Hammed and his cohorts came and were shouting, ‘Where is Sam, where is Sam?’ We are going to attack him if he does not give us money. I was in my room. I was listening to their loud voices. Sam (Owawu) came to me to collect N1,000 and he went out to meet them and gave them N500. They were happy and they left.Minutes later, as was his custom, Sam left the house in sportwear. Barely 10 minutes after he left for training, one of our friends rushed to the house to say the hoodlums had waylaid and stabbed Sam.
He was our goal keeper at the club. He used to go out for jogging every morning. His death is a shock to all of us. I learnt he was going to travel soon.
