Nollywood Actor, Kenneth Okonkwo declares his intention to run for governor of ENUGU STATE
Veteran actor Kenneth Okonkwo declared his intentions to contest in the forthcoming governorship election of Enugu state as Governor under the political power of All people’s congress (APC), while describing the administration of the People’s democratic party (PDP) in the state as inactive.
He made his declarations known to the public via Instagram with shared photos over the weekend, during the APC’s stakeholder meetings, Enugu chapter. He was endorsed by the former gov of Enugu state- Gov Sullivan Chime.
According to the 52 year old actor, who rose to fame starring in the Nollywood movie- living in bondage, stated that it’s about time, Nollywood produces an executive to help in fulfillment of their dreams. His declaration was embraced by the entire structure of APC as they attended the event.
Although, he is not the only Nollywood actor to run for gubernatorial seats. Yul Edochie ran as the governorship candidate of Anambra state under the flag of the Democratic People’s congress (DPC), he lost to the incumbent governor of the state, Willy Obiano.
He might as well, join fellow actor- Desmond Elliot, who is currently a member of the Lagos state House of Assembly, if he succeeds in winning the election.
