APC Hail President Buhari For Fulfilling His N5,000 Promise To 1 Million Poor Nigerians

president-muhammadu-buhari1

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, hailed president Buhari for keeping to the party’s campaign promise.

Via a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, and made available to journalists in Abuja:

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) commends the President Muhammadu Buhari administration for fulfilling the promise the party made to Nigerians during the 2015 general election campaigns that safety nets will be provided to vulnerable Nigerians.
“The party notes that with the commencement of payment of N5,000 to one million poor Nigerians through the Conditional Cash Transfer scheme of the government, the Buhari administration has demonstrated its commitment to the party’s change manifestoes which is couched on true transformation.
“We recall that as part of its Social Investment Programme (SIP), the government has begun implementing three other major campaign promises of the party designed to provide jobs and lift the most vulnerable Nigerians out of poverty. These include: the N-Power Volunteer Corps which will provide jobs to 500,000 young Nigerian graduates; the National Homegrown Feeding Programme which has commenced in selected states, and the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), which provides soft loans ranging from N10,000 to 100,000 to artisans, traders and market women, among others.
“The APC views these achievements as historic and unprecedented in the history of Nigeria even as it assures Nigerians that the government is committed and working hard to make significant progress on the economy, and other sectoral areas.
“The party acknowledges that the past year was a tough one for Nigerians occasioned by the economic recession but have confidence in the ability of President Buhari to design programmes and policies that will provide succor to the masses.
“We urge Nigerians to continue to support and pray for the President Buhari-led administration so that our dream of a more prosperous, secure and stable nation will be achieved.

Lai Mohammed- PDP Left Nigeria In A Coma

lai mohammed

In a statement released by his special adviser, Segun Adeyemi, Lai Mohammed said that the All Progressive Congress was on a mission to resuscitate Nigeria after the People’s Democratic Party left it in a coma

The statement from Lai Mohammed read in part:

We are on a rescue mission to resuscitate Nigeria after the PDP left it in a coma, and the noise from the same PDP seems designed to sabotage the rescue efforts. But we are not deterred

Instead of showing remorse and rebuilding itself to a strong opposition party, the PDP has continued to blame the successor Buhari Administration which is left to pack their mess. PDP undertakers have continued to engage in a blame game, when they should be hiding from the shame they brought upon themselves and the nation.

They keep saying we should stop talking of the past, yet the past will not stop rearing its head. They keep saying we should no longer refer to the past, but how can we forget so soon that our foreign exchange reserves plummeted from $62bn in 2008 to $30bn by 2015, at a time when oil prices were at a historic high, reaching a level of $114 per barrel in 2014.

By comparison, Indonesia, another oil producing economy with a high population, increased its reserves from $60 billion in 2008 to $120 billion in 2015. The candid truth is that we failed under the successive PDP administrations to save for the rainy day, and we need to constantly remind ourselves of that so that we won’t repeat the mistake.

Take the excess crude account which fell from about $9bn in 2007 to about $2bn in 2015. The argument that it was the State Governors that depleted the account does not hold water since there were Governors in place when the account was being built up. Worse still is the fact that up to $14bn in revenues from Nigerian LNG remains unaccounted for and indeed until the Buhari Administration came to office, State Governments never got any allocations from this source of funds which properly belongs to the Federation Account. The naked fact on the revenue front is that there was just a failure of leadership.

This was compounded by the non-transparent uses of funds. We are all witnesses to the sacking of a Central Bank Governor because he raised an alarm about $20 billion that had gone missing. We are indeed still trying to recover huge sums looted from the national treasury under the PDP’s watch, with $15 billion stolen from the defence sector alone.

Perhaps most painful is that because of the way funds (about $322m) returned from Switzerland were mishandled, we now have to accept conditionalities before our stolen assets are even returned to us,” he said. Mohammed said one of the achievements that the PDP has been touting is that it reduced the nation’s national debt. ”However, at the time that we were earning such large revenues from oil, we only managed to double our external debt from $5.6 billion to $10.7 billion between 2011 and 2015.

ALSO READ: Car Knocks Down Highway Sweeper In Lagos

The case of domestic debt was even worse, almost tripling from N888 billion to N2.1 trillion in the same period. Even these figures mask the extent of unpaid obligations to contractors and the huge plethora of uncompleted projects on which money continued to be spent without visible results. Payments to contractors stopped several years ago while not a single dollar was contributed to the Joint Venture activities.

Over N4.5 trillion was spent on fuel subsidy in just two years under the PDP! Despite a recent oil boom, Nigerians are indeed all victims of the dilapidated and decrepit infrastructure. The economy that the Buhari Administration inherited was certainly in dire straits, if the huge amount of salary arrears that were being owed at various tiers of government is anything to go by. If, after earning so much resources and increasing the total debt stock, our governments were not able to meet salary obligations, sometimes for up to seven months, then something was definitely wrong somewhere and if this is not evidence of a collapsing economy, one wonders what it is.

Indeed, it was not so long ago that the fuel subsidy regime almost bankrupted the country. Through credibility and commitment to good governance, the current administration has managed to save up to N1.4 trillion that would have been spent on subsidies for PMS. Moreover, the daily demand for PMS has halved from 1600 trucks a day to 850 trucks a day.

If we could achieve such savings, then clearly the petrol sector which was and remains a huge source of foreign exchange demand was not being well managed. It is also important to point out that the poor security situation in the North East has had ripple effects on the economy.

Apart from the dislocation of daily lives, there was extensive loss of agricultural production arising from the fact that our citizens in that zone could not go to their farms not to talk of planting and harvesting produce. Yet, in just a space of about 15 months, the Buhari Administration has liberated this region from the clutches of Boko Haram, which is now left to release meaningless videos when it could no longer carry out spectacular attacks.

PDP Calls Postponement Of Edo Elections Bizzare

edo elections

The DSS and Police have called for the postponement of the Saturday, September 10 Edo elections due to security concerns. PDP has described this shocking and bizzare

The calls for the postponement of the Edo elections came as a result of intelligence that there might be Sallah attacks over the weekend in some states in Nigeria. The statement from PDP read :

Our attention has been drawn to the shocking breaking news of the advise by the DSS and the Police to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the Saturday, September 10, 2016 Gubernatorial Election in Edo State on excuse of insurgency alert. We are taken aback on this advise coming a day after the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari was present at the Mega Rally of its Party, the APC in Benin City which was concluded without any hitch.

ALSO READ: Patience And Goodluck Jonathan Out On A Date

“It is on record that INEC recently conducted a ‘hitch free’ Senatorial By-Election in Borno State which is a high-point of insurgency in the Country but the Security Agencies saw no reason to call-off the Election. It is therefore lamentable to hear from these same security agencies that the Election cannot be held in a State where in less than 24 hours, the President and all the APC leaders and members had an uninterrupted Rally.

We are calling on the President, Muhammadu Buhari to caution the security agencies and direct them to provide full security, and also to desist doing anything that will jeopardize this forthcoming Gubernatorial Election in Edo State. We are equally counting on INEC not to succumb to this false alarm by acting independently and holding election as scheduled. We hope that this advice from the security agencies are not in concert with the APC of having seen the indices of loosing the Edo State Gubernatorial Election to the PDP. Finally, the Party leadership led by Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, CON, call on our members, teeming supporters, other Edo voters and the international community to remain law-abiding while staying alert on this calculated attempt at scuttling our hard earned democracy.

Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has expressed dissatisfaction with the way the All Progressive Congress ( APC) is managing their victory. He said this while referring to Buhari as ‘old man”

Speaking with newsmen during the weekend, Rochas Okorocha who is also the Chairman of APC Governor’s Forum made claims that APC was not managing their victory well. In his words:

Fayose Sees Fuel Price Increment As Buhari’s Wickedness

fayose fuel price increment

Gov. Ayo Fayose, known to be very audible and very opposed as well to the incumbent Buhari led government has once again voiced his opinion on the matter of subsidy removal/fuel price increment

Read the press statement on fuel price increment below:

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that President Mohammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Congress (APC) were playing Nigerians Advanced Fee Fraud over the removal of fuel subsidy and increment of pump price from N86.50 to N145 per litre. He described the increment as wickedness taken too far. He also askes; “was the federal government paying up to N58.50 as subsidy on one litre of petrol before now?”

ALSO READ: Justin Bieber Hangs Out With Tiger At Event

Governor Fayose, who reiterated his call on Nigerians, especially the labour movement to resist what he called “this wicked act of President Buhari and his party” on fuel price increment, added that;

those who opposed removal of fuel subsidy in 2012 and funded the Occupy Nigeria protest must not be allowed to get away with this imposition of hardship on Nigerians now that they are in power.

ALSO READ: Solidstar Shares New Photo Of His Son

He said labour unions, civil society organisations and other well-meaning Nigerians should stand up. This is in order to be counted at this crucial time in the life of the common people of Nigeria. He added that

there is no justification for the increment at this period when government is not paying salaries regularly, Nigerians are losing their jobs daily, prices of foodstuffs have gone over the roof and life has become so difficult for the common people.

ALSO READ: Kylie Jenner Complains About Tyga’s Poor Sexual Performance

To labour Nigerians with this increment is wickedness taken too far!” In a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said;

In 2012 when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government of Dr Goodluck Jonathan removed fuel subsidy and increased petrol price to N141 per litre, crude oil was selling at $111 per barrel. How then can petrol price be increased to N145 per litre when crude oil is now selling at $40 per barrel? It is on record that on May 2 this year, the federal government, in the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) Template released in Abuja, told Nigerians that it was subsidising petrol at N12.62 per litre. “If as at May 2, petrol was being subsidised at N12.62 per litre, and now that the subsidy of N12.62 has been removed, what ought to have been added to the N86.50 pump price should be N12.62, which would have increased pump price to N99.12 per litre.

ALSO READ: Malaika Lands Tecno Mobile Deal

He said that “Increasing petrol pump price by N58.50 when the federal government claimed it was subsidising the product at N12.62 per litre is clear political 419. This is aimed at further impoverishing Nigerians as the government will be making profit of N45.88 on each litre of petrol bought by Nigerians.

How can any government with human feelings attempt to make profit of N45.88 per litre on Nigerians, who are no longer getting their salaries regularly? How can Buhari and his party impose another N45.88 per litre levy on Nigerians who are already facing severe hardship?

ALSO READ: Chioma Akpotha Slams Uche Jumbo’s Critics

This is wickedness!” Speaking further, Governor Fayose said there was no justification for the fuel price increment to N145 per litre. This is especially now that crude oil price is $40 per barrel when the same product was increased to N141 per litre in 2012 when crude oil was $111 per barrel. He described President Buhari as a hypocrite. The governor said; “Nigerians should be reminded that the president once said that petrol subsidy never existed and that it was a fraud. How then can the same President Buhari tell us that he has removed the same subsidy he claimed never existed?

The reality is that these people lied to Nigerians too much. They made promises they knew they won’t fulfil just to get to power. Now they are showing Nigerians their true colours. They are showing Nigerians that they have come to punish them with hardship.

Buhari and his APC promised to reduce petrol pump price to from N87 to N45 per litre; petrol is now N145. They promised to create three million jobs per year; they have instead created millions of unemployment. They said $1 will be equal to N1; $1 is now N320. They promised to create better live for Nigerians, they have instead created hardship by making prices of basic commodities to skyrocket through their lack of policy direction.

Stop Blaming Us For your Problems – PDP Laments

pdp

People’s Democratic Party(PDP) has urged the All Progressive Congress(APC) to stop the blame game in the governship of Nigeria and face the challenges of governance

It is common news that the blame of the socio-economic problems facing Nigeria has always been heaped on the PDP. During the week, APC National leader Bola Tinubu and President Buhari have separately blamed the bad shape of Nigeria’s economy on the 16 year misrule of the People’s Democratic Party.

The inauguration of the special convention committee of People’s Democratic Party took place in Abuja yesterday. Ali Modu Sheriff, National chairman, took the opportunity to beseech APC to change their attitude to governance and start ruling the country.

He said:

I advise leaders of the APC to stop blaming the PDP for their problems. We want to tell Nigerians that we can do better

The chairman also pointed a finger at APC Governors accusing them of planning to rig PDP out of the FCT council elections to hold on Saturday. However, he also encouraged them to make good their plot as his party would be ready for them.

If anybody believes they can rig the PDP out of the election, they are in for a shocker. If you bring your governors, we will bring our own. If you bring your former governors, we will bring our former governors.

He also made a plea to INEC to ensure that the elections would be free and fair:

The election must be conclusive. There should be no inconclusive elections again

“I’ve Spent Almost 9 Times My Budget” J Martins

Nigerian singer and producer J Martins has come out to openly lament about the APC led government. “The government has to give me a timeline, the wait can not be endless” – J Martin

J Martins in an open letter addressed to no one in particular said;

Ladies and gentlemen of the Federal Republic, complaining about the present situation of things in the country doesn’t make one anti-Buhari/APC or pro-GEJ/PDP.

For all you partisan voltrons, not everyone is into your hypocracy filled pontifications of party ideology, because in all honesty, you people have none. Many of us just want light, fuel, friendly business clime, better health, agriculture and educational infrastructures, and a better country, generally.

I’m willing to give the government time to correct things, but the government has to give me a timeline, the wait can not be endless. Kindly give us a timetable. We have seen many that never came to fruition, but just give us schedule to work with please.

I’ve spent almost 9 times my planned budget for 3 months in 2 weeks, with no corresponding increase in income. If I’m expected to act like its absolutely normal and keep mum for fear of being branded anti-Buhari, or a wailer.

APC Says Ayo Fayose Is Suffering From Psychological Stress

Ayo Fayose: A Governor of the People?
Over the weekend, Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, granted an interview, where he threatened to bring down Buhari’s government should anything happened to him or his government over the military probe of June 21, 2014
Well, now the Ekiti State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has urged Nigerians to ignore the Governor. They are claiming that he acted under psychological stress.
The party released a statement saying:

We want to appeal to Nigerians around the world to see Fayose as a special breed with a special case of psychosis among Ekiti people and so he should be treated as a special man whose actions should not be equated to Ekiti standard of behaviour. Even with his special condition of mental torture that requires psychiatric management, we shall still urge the security agencies to watch the governor over his subversive activities within and outside the country and to act now to bring him under the law to account for his actions.

We had earlier alerted the security agencies that Fayose stockpiled arms in the Government House with hundreds of criminals already trained in arms handling. The arms and ammunition are still there.
We are telling the security agencies again with all sense of responsibility that Fayose is currently recruiting 10 thugs from each of the 16 local government to assemble at a training facility in Ifaki-Ekiti. Who he wants to attack with armed thugs, we don’t know, but we know he has already made Hilux vans available to them for initial operations.
Fayose, replied the above statement via his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Asdelusi, saying:
There is no point wrestling with a pig. For people with sound minds, they would, no doubt, wonder why somebody with a decent background and sound mind would refer to the governor of his state as needing psychiatric attention or not being able to survive in a law abiding society?
Ayo Fayose became the governor of Ekiti for the second time in the year 2014

Months After Elections, Facebook User Mock PDP

Facebook User Mocks PDP

Its been months since President Muhammadu Buhari defeated Goodluck Jonathan in the last presidential elections. Mockery of PDP by supporters of APC still carries the day.

A Facebook user has mocked the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by quoting statements by the party’s faithfuls before the last presidential elections. The user who goes by the name, Anthony Ojo quoted the likes of Ayo Fayose, Doyin Okukpe, Bode George, Femi Fani-Kayode amongst others.

Anthony Ojo wrote;

Let’s revisit the history:
“Buhari will die before the Election- Ayo Fayose
Buhari is brain dead – Patient Jonathan
-If APC survives till October 2014,call me a bastard.- Doyin Okupe
-Mark my words, It will not happen for Buhari to rule Nigeria. – Doyin Okupe.
-If APC wins, I will go on exile. – Bode George.
-Buhari can never win in Yorubaland. – Gani Adams.
-Jonathan will shock APC with defeat. – FFK
-If Jonathan loses, we would set Nigeria on fire. -Asari Dokubo.
-We instigated the 6 weeks postponement so that Jonathan can win. – Fasehun
-I will deliver 1 million votes to Jonathan in Ondo state. – Mimiko
-We shall deliver the South West votes to Jonathan. – Afenifere
–Tinubu is no longer a force in the South West. -Yinka Odumakin.
-Buhari at 70 wears diapers like my mother. -Fayose
-Jonathan already has Lagos votes.- Obanikoro.

Anthony Ojo concluded with a word of prayer;

“Ladies and gentlemen, NO MATTER WHAT PEOPLE THINK
OR SAY ABOUT YOU FOR EVIL,GOD WILL CHANGE IT TO JOY.”

The mockery of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by faithfuls of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seems to be something that will remain for a long time. This will probably be permanent if those who are supposed to remain in the PDP to help build a strong opposition keep decamping to APC for personal gain.

Ayodele Fayose Pressured to Declare Assets

Ayodele Fayose Pressured to Declare Assets

The controversial governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has been called upon to declare his assets.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, is been pressured by the Ekiti State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to declare his assets.

Mr Taiwo Olatunbosun, Ekiti APC Publicity Secretary, made the call in a public statement. The party also worry at unconfirmed reports that Ayodele Fayose had acquired properties in Ghana, Dubai, South Africa, Abuja, Ibadan, Banana Island and Magodo since assuming office nine months ago.

Below is an excerpt of the statement released by Ekiti State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor must seize the opportunity of declaring his assets to douse speculations of his alleged funnelling of the state resources to his private enterprises abroad.
It is curious that he has not abused President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo after they declared their assets. Fayose’s loud silence on the President in this case is curious because the governor has never seen anything good in whatever the President does.
We are worried by the unconfirmed reports of primitive acquisitions by the governor who allegedly own properties in Ghana, Dubai, South Africa, Abuja, Ibadan and Banana Islands and Magodo in Lagos which were believed to have been acquired in the last nine months after he assumed office.

Our party is aware that Fayose had no visible means of income prior to October 16, 2014 when he became governor and the properties he owned in Ibadan and Lagos are subjects of litigation by the EFCC, which is probing the governor for misappropriation and diversion of N1.3b poultry project cash to personal use in 2005.

They accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of acquiring expensive properties both within and outside Nigeria. The call to declare his assets is coming few days after President Muhammadu Buhari and vice president Yemi Osinbajo declared their assets.

APC Accuses Jonathan of Looting N11.11Trillion

APC Accuses Jonathan of Looting N11.11Trillion

The All Progressive Congress APC claims that no less than N11.11 trillion was looted during the Jonathan led administration.

The All Progressive Congress APC has accused Jonathan of looting N11.11 trillion from government coffers while in office.

Lai Mohammed, the National Publicity Secretary of the party disclosed this in a media statement. He claimed that public funds were looted massively under the Jonathan  led Administration.

The level of looting that went on in other sectors is better imagined, hence the need for all Nigerians to rally around the Buhari Administration to recover the loots, bring the looters to justice and to put in place measures to prevent such looting in the future,

The APC came up with a list of the different loots;

–  3.8 trillion Naira out of the 8.1 trillion Naira earned from crude oil (2012-2015) withheld by NNPC
– 2.1 billion US dollars from Excess Crude Account unaccounted for
– Department of Petroleum Resources’ unremitted 109.7 billion Naira royalty from oil firms
– 6 billion US dollars allegedly looted by some Ministers of the last Administration
– 160 million barrels of crude worth 13.9 billion US dollars lost between 2009 and 2012
– 15 million US dollars from botched arms deal yet to be returned to Nigeria
- 13 billion US dollars in NLNG dividends mostly unaccounted for
- 30 billion Naira rice waiver
- 183 billion naira unaccounted for at the Niger Delta Development Commission.

The All Progressive Congress APC also alleged that there are other looted funds apart from the ones listed above. President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to retrieve all the looted fund especially from Jonathan’s administration.

Buhari to oversee NNPC for 18 months

President Muhammadu Buhari, speaking during a meeting with some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has said he would use 18 months of heading the  Ministry of Petroleum to sanitize it.

An  anonymous source at the meeting, told The Punch  correspondent:

“At the meeting we had recently, we discussed the issues of portfolios and other matters.

“He said it was after this that he would appoint a substantive minister for the ministry. He said he would only personally handle the reorganisation of the much-important ministry.

“Besides, he said the ministry needed to be reformed and be rid of corruption. He promised to sanitize the ministry.

Buhari plans to appoint the best hand to head the NNPC after 18 months.

Fayose Cautions Buhari against Hypocrisy

photo shows fayose, the controversial governor of ekiti state

The controversial Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose in a recent press statement has asked President Buhari to begin his anti-corruption battle from his own party, the All Progressive Congress, (APC) while cautioning him against hypocrisy. Governor Fayose asked the president to come out clean as regards the sources of the funds used in the APC presidential electoral campaigns. He alleged that those who financed Buhari’s campaign used ill-gotten funds looted from the government coffers. He likewise accused President Buhari of having more corrupt and dubious associates than the former president, Goodluck Jonathan. Fayose consequently exhorted the president to remove the log in his eyes before attempting to remove the splinter in the eyes of Nigerians.

Some of those who sponsored the president’s election have not done any other jobs apart from holding public offices. Yet, they provided private jets and funds with which the president campaigned across the length and breadth of Nigeria. He should let Nigerians know where they got money to buy private jets and the several billions of naira spent on his election.

Mr President and his men should know that these planned efforts to brand PDP as a party of corrupt people and suppress the giant strides of the Jonathan administration won’t work because Nigerians know that APC is peopled with more corrupt people and the President must treat the issue of corruption without looking at political parties. No one sits with corruption to fight corruption because as it is today, President Buhari is sitting among corrupt people and he must first extricate himself from the comity of corruption that he is before his anti-corruption stance can be accorded respect.

Governor Ayodele Fayose also ridiculed the claim that Buhari knew where the embezzled funds of the past administration were kept. He said if that was the case, Buhari need not announce it in public. Rather, Fayose advised that Buhari should worry more about recovering the funds and nabbing the looters. He called the recent public statements of President Buhari on the whereabouts of the loots as mere noise-making.

If President Mohammadu Buhari knows exactly where the stolen funds are kept and who looted the funds, he does not need all these public announcements. Rather, he should make public names of the looters and bring back the purported stolen funds, location of which he has identified. It is when he is able to bring back the money that he should make announcements of recovered funds. You don’t announce a process to the public. Rather, you announce the results because that is what is of interest to the people. It is like you are announcing that you know where armed robbers reside, won’t they change their location?

Governor Ayodele Fayose is one of the few People Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains who is bold enough to question the present APC government of the day under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari Cant Flush Boko Haram- Femi Fani-Kayode

Buhari Cant Flush Boko Haram- Femi Fani-Kayode

Former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has told expectant Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot win the Boko Haram Islamist Sect since he secretly shares the same view with them. He made the statement via a  post on his Facebook page. Read what he said below:

Anyone that honestly believed that a man who secretly shares the same vision and core principles of Boko Haram and who spent many years defending them can do anything but give them a free hand when he comes to power is living in cuckoo land.I am not surprised by all the recent bombings and killings. I am not surprised by the resurgence of Boko Haram and their new-found barbarity, courage and zeal. Military checkpoints have been removed from our roads so what do you expect?

Boko Haram suspects are now being kept in prisons in the eastern part of the country in order to ”spread the word” and no less than 182 Boko Haram suspects were released on the Presidents orders just a few days ago. Is all this just a coincidence or is something that is dark and sinister now afoot in our country?Whatever each of us may or may not believe, one thing is clear- that Boko Haram now have powerful friends and secret allies right at the epicenter of power and those friends and allies are running the affairs of the country.

There is a much wider picture unfolding here which the Nigerian people have yet to see and which they find difficult to accept, understand or comprehend. There is a hideous and frightful hidden agenda which is slowly manifesting before our very eyes. Though we warned them, the Nigerian people wanted “change” so they must live with the consequences of their choice. One of those consequences is the new-found audacity, courage, growing power and rising strength of Boko Haram. Another is the resurgence of a clearly ethnic agenda which is designed to leave no-one in doubt about who really owns Nigeria and who the slaves are.

Another is the destruction and demystification of Bola Tinubu and his yoruba loyalists by his erstwhile northern allies in the APC. Only a fool did not see that one coming and I am rather surprised that Tinubu‘s followers are now crying foul and alleging that there is a northern conspiracy. Didnt they know that before? Were they not warned over and over again? There are many other grave consequences which the Nigerian people will witness, in a most harrowing and frightful manner, in the next few months and years. May God deliver our people and our nation and may we learn to make the right choices.

The former aviation minister has a week ago, been acquitted and discharged by a federal high Court of corruption charges which the EFCC  leveled against him since 2008.

PDP Asks Presidency To Fulfill Campaign Promises

PDP Asks Presidency To Fulfill Campaign Promises

As expected of an opposition party to do checks and balances on the government in power, the People Democratic Party (PDP) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to fulfill the promises he made at campaign rallies before the 2015 general elections.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh has said in a statement released today that the party expect the present administration to fight corruption and avoid witch-hunting the opposition.

The statement reads;

The PDP and indeed all well-meaning Nigerians were appalled by the response from the Presidency regarding our call for prayers to enable President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration locate its bearing, compose a government and halt the prevailing stagnation with its huge negative impact on the system.

Instead of addressing the issues raised, the Presidency descended to insults, abuses and innuendos, a stance which not only bears out the case made by the PDP but also raises questions about the capacity of this administration to shoulder the enormous responsibility of governance.

While we expect the present administration to be serious about the fight against corruption, probe and prosecute each and everyone involved in such, irrespective of their party leaning, we restate that these must be done within the ambits of the law and must not be used as a witch-hunt ostensibly to discredit and undermine the opposition. We therefore caution against the current drama of politicizing the issue of corruption in the country.

Furthermore, the analogy of the Augean stable, is completely baffling to us at this level as it goes to a great length to question the capacity and the sincerity of those around the president.

In Greek mythology, Hercules in his ingenuity took the task and efficiently cleared the Augean’ stable in a day for which he demanded a reward of a tenth of fine cattle belonging to the king.

Nigerians would not want to believe that in the so-called clearing of the Augean stable, although not delivering in one day, President Buhari wants to play Hercules in his demand, this time, by wanting to run the government alone without the statutory components of the executive as enshrined in the constitution.

We ask, is the so-called clearing of mess responsible for his inability after 90 days of winning an election to make up his mind on rudimentary appointments such as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief of Staff and his demand for 15 Special Advisers as approved by the PDP controlled Seventh Assembly since June 5, 2015?

Perhaps we need to draw President Buhari’s attention to the fact that while he is busy clearing his imaginary mess on the pages of newspapers, some persons claiming closeness to him have in the last 30 days been piling up sleazes that also need his attention in key agencies of government.

Despite the absence of approving and supervising officials, key income generating institutions like NNPC, NIMASA, NPA, and other strategic agencies have been invaded by persons claiming to be friends and associates of the President and this puts to question the sincerity and seriousness of the administration to affect the so-called change upon which they rode to power.

Auxiliary to this is the issue of the construction of a helipad, amongst various expenses and other major government expenditure going on across board in the last one month and without due supervision as the eyes of the President cannot be everywhere.

We declare unequivocally that we do have respect for the person and office of the President especially considering his age and status as an elder statesman. However, we will like to make it very clear that the President of the Federal Republic Nigeria is neither a Sherriff in the Old Wild West nor a military dictator in some banana republic. He is an elected president under a democratic setting.

President Buhari has just spent a month in office.

Akinwunmi Ambode Declares 2nd Lekki Toll Point Free

Akinwunmi Ambode Declares 2nd Lekki Toll Point Free

The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has declared that there will be no toll on the second toll point of Lekki-Epe Road. The new governor who took his oath of office barely a month ago on 29th May said that his government is “receptive to new ideas.”

Mr. Ambode said this amongst other things while interacting with journalists at the Lagos House.

In a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Akinwunmi Ambode said;

We must start thinking of the future concerning that road. We said we will have an International Airport in Epe, and an Export Processing Zone in Lekki and a Deep Seaport also in Lekki.

Should we not start thinking about how we will improve and create a 10-lane road between Ikorodu, Itoikin, Epe and Ijebu Ode so that people can go out from there? There is no point constructing the road, paying tolls and in five years’ time, the road is gone.

As more means of transportation come on board, the more than 600,000 private car owners and 120,000 motorcycles that are being put on the road in the state on a daily basis will reduce in number.

We have said this is a government of continuity, but it is continuity with improvement. It is about making life easier for the people. We are receptive to new ideas and that is why we are going to be creative, innovative and thinking out of the box.

Akinwunmi Ambode emerged governor under All Progressives Congress (APC) when he defeated People’s Democratic Party (PDP)’s Jimi Agbaje in 11th April, 2015 gubernatorial elections.
