Famous Afro-pop singer, Simi, has voiced out her displeasure towards the state Nigeria is in presently. Reflecting on the many problems in Nigeria, the singer points out Nigerian leaders are the source of the nation’s problem.
Using her Twitter page as a medium, Simisola called Nigeria a “scary” place to be. She also made it known that Nigerians are scared to speak out their minds and demand for what they want. Simi recognized that the citizens are quick to accept defeat when they are suppose to speak out.
In what seems like a rant thread, the “Joromi” crooner reiterated that the leaders do the “crazy” things they do because they know they are free from any consequence that should have come from the legal route. In her words:
“Nigeria is a fucking scary place to be. The worst part is a lot of crazy stuff happens because they KNOW there will be no consequences. It’s not rocket science. But how do we get from where we are to where we need to be?? + it’s not just the government, it’s us too”
The petite singer went further to analyze how Nigerians live. She said with no confidence in the system, the citizens only struggle to survive instead to be living in the real sense.
We’re just getting by. No confidence in this broken system. So we hope that today is good for us and that we see tomorrow. Rinse and repeat. Surviving, instead of actually living.
The newly wedded singer, Simi, is one of the few Nigerian celebrities who speak out confidently against the myopic government system in Nigeria.
