Sarkodie new album ‘Highest’ was released September 8 and in less than 24 hours, it dominated iTunes album charts globally.
The rapper, Sarkodie remains one of the best in Africa. Hisis album occupies astounding chart positions across iTunes charts in America, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada and Switzerland among others.
‘Highest’ is packed with 15 brand new songs, 3 interludes and one bonus track. Before its release, it had support from the big uns and a UK press tour. Global tastemakers like Noisey, BBC 1Xtra, MTV, Hunger Magazine, Capital Xtra, and Radar Radio, to mention a few gave their support on this one.
The chart-topping album features major homegrown and international collaborations, with the likes of long-time friend and producer Jayso. Others are UK’s Big Narstie, Victoria Kimani (Kenya), Moelogo (UK), renowned spoken word artist Suli Breaks (UK), Korede Bello (Nigeria), Praiz (Nigeria), Yung L (Nigeria), Joey B (Ghana), Jesse Jagz (Nigeria), Flavour (Nigeria) and Bobii Lewis (UK).
The album which had immediately taken the No. 1 spot in Ghana, shot to the No.2 stop on the iTunes album charts in Nigeria. It also reached the top 20 on iTunes Hip Hop Rap album charts both in UK and Us respectively. It occupied spot No. 13 and 7.
In other parts of the world, the album gained massive strides as well, reaching the top 30 on the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap album charts in Canada and Switzerland.
