Saraki speaks after defeat.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki has spoken after his shock defeat in Saturday’s election in Kwara state. Saraki highlighted some irregularities in the just concluded election, and noted that he has accepted the results and wish the people of Kwara all the best thereafter.

The Senate President also acknowledges the candidates of the People Democratic Party, (PDP) and said they are the best for Kwara. In his final words, Saraki disclosed that the candidates that were emerge as winners are not his enemies but also fellow Kwarans.

In his words, Saraki said:

“Whatever the final outcome of the election, I wish the candidates that have emerged all the best in their attempts to serve our people,“It is my prayers that the good people of Kwara State will always have the best from any government both at state and federal levels. I am going to work with our party leaders to further sell the PDP candidates to the general public,”

Olubukola Abubakar Saraki who has been the senate president since 2015 and also the Governor of Kwara state under the platform of the PDP (People’s Democratic Party) from 2003 to 2011. He was first elected to the Senate in April 2011, also under the platform of the PDP, representing the Kwara Central senatorial district, and then re-elected in the March 2015 election, under the platform of the APC (All Progressive Congress). 

He also said:

“It is also our prayers that at all times, the wish of the people will always prevail in the choice of the leadership and the electorate will always enjoy the benefit of good governance.”

Saraki thank all Nigerians for their goodwill and also advice them to wait patiently for the outcome of the presidential election, the Senate president also pray for peace, unity and genuine development in the country.
