Following the announcement of the Kogi Senatorial district elections results from the just concluded election, The Social Democratic Party claim that they cannot accept the result. The results earlier announced showed that Yakubu Oseni of APC won the elections with 76,120 votes while SDP came second with 48,326 votes.
However, The Chairman of SDP Muktar Atima said that the elections was marred by a lot of irregularities and hence cannot be accepted by the party.
While saying this, Atima revealed that the current Governor of Kogi state had a role to play as he was moving round and collecting form EC8A from one polling unit to another and filling it himself.
He said, “The action of the governor is laughable as the accreditation by the card readers did not tally with the vote cast, so how can such results hold. This is not an election because he cannot use his position, those of his aides and security agencies to intimidate people”.
SDP Members and Supporters have been admonished to remain calm as the results cannot stand.
