INEC Office Set Ablaze In Benue

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State was set ablaze by angry protesters last night. Reports by Vanguard Newspapers claimed the protesters set the INEC office on fire at about 8 p.m in protest of the election results released by INEC on Saturday night. This unpleasant scenario happened in the home town of Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam. A witness at the fire outbreak stated;

the action may not be unconnected with the said result that INEC released in the area which actually did not go down with the people who are claiming the result was skewed

Mr Louis Ochai, the INEC Public Relations Officer in Benue State confirmed the incident. He described the action as disgraceful and inexcusable. Louis Ochai stated;

by tomorrow we should be able to get full details of the unfortunate development, but for now the matter is being handled as a security issue; it is however regrettable.

We just pray that our sensitive materials were not destroyed in he inferno.
